Salvaged Orchard Walnut Wood Flooring & Paneling

What is Salvaged Walnut?

Our recovered walnut flooring and cladding is salvaged from walnut orchards on the west coast, up-cycling a product that would otherwise turn into woodchips, or even burned. Instead, we turn this beautiful wood into profiled wood paneling and flooring ready to install into commercial and residential projects. By repurposing this wood, it is given a new life, which helps to reduce waste and the need for new resources.

Orchard Walnut

Orchard walnut is a unique blend of English walnut and Claro Walnut, which is used as a disease-resistant root stock. When grafted together, the result is a walnut tree with a larger base and a smaller, easier-to-harvest crown. The wood from orchard walnut is often swirled with dark patterns from the Claro Walnut, creating beautiful wood grain for added depth.

Salvaged orchard walnut has a unique and rustic appearance that can add charm and character to any space. The natural variations in color and grain pattern give each piece of wood a one-of-a-kind look that cannot be replicated with new wood. Walnut wood can work with a variety of design styles, from modern to industrial, making it an enduring and versatile choice.

Designing with Orchard Walnut Wood

So how can you integrate orchard walnut flooring and paneling into an interior design? Here are some design tips for styling a room with salvaged walnut.

1. Design with Neutral Accents

Orchard walnut can have quite the personality when it comes to grain patterning and character. The heartwood of walnut can be a very dark brown, while the sapwood could vary in the range of light honey and tan. To balance the richness of the walnut, accent the space with neutral elements that can add a complementary contrast.

2. Go Light & Bright

Since walnut wood can be quite dark and rich, designing the rest of the space with light contrast, like light colored walls and ceiling can bring in a modern look without losing the warmth of the space. Soft shades of beige, cream, and light gray can be a good match.

3. Or Dark & Moody

Working with the rich look of walnut can add drama. Accent with deep blues, browns and black for an intimate, den-like space. Accent the space with rich leathers, metallics and moody lighting for an extra luxe appeal.

4. Add Rich Paint Colors

Deep, rich colors complement the warmth of walnut wood. Dark indigo blues, royal purples and rich greens work well for a cozy, intimate appeal. This combination can create a modern and sophisticated look that is perfect for a contemporary or industrial style. Or blend with warmer tone, like earthy mustards and rich iron rust tones, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance.

5. Choose Complementary Furniture

When it comes to styling an interior space with orchard walnut flooring, it's important to choose furniture pieces that complement the warmth and natural beauty of the wood. Consider pieces made from materials such as leather, velvet, and natural fibers like cotton or linen. Neutral or warm colors work well with walnut flooring. Adding textured elements like throw pillows, rugs, and curtains made from natural materials enhances the inherent warmth of walnut.

6. Use Lighting to Create Ambiance

Lighting can have a big impact on the overall look and feel of a space. Use warm lighting to highlight the natural beauty of the walnut flooring and create a cozy atmosphere.
