We sat down with KTI Design Director, Nikki Holt, to hear about her experience working with Anthology Woods’ reclaimed wood flooring, paneling and custom beams for her luxury home designs. Read on to learn more about her thoughts and ideas about reclaimed wood design and her favorite wood products.

  1. What types of projects does KTI specialize in?

KTI is comprised of three studios: Luxury Residential, Hospitality, and Interior Merchandising. We cover many areas like private residences, hotels, resorts, clubhouses, restaurants, and model homes. The Luxury Residential studio focuses on custom new builds and full-gut renovations.

  2. What are some of your favorite products from Anthology Woods and why?

We love the Sawmill Oak because it’s the best of both worlds: truly reclaimed yet refined, so the product can fit any space.

  3. What was your favorite project using Anthology Woods products and why?

Vineyard Views in St. Helena, California is our favorite Anthology Woods project. The wood added so much character and made the home feel like it had been there for years.

  4. How important is the reclaimed and/or sustainable aspect of wood products for you and your clients?

The reclaimed nature of the wood makes it feel so authentic and original, something that all our clients desire. Unlike other products that strive to look reclaimed, Anthology’s genuine reclaimed products make the project really stand out.

  5. What are some design trends you see with wood flooring and paneling

Reclaimed wood will always be in style, but we are now seeing a mixture of clean, select grade white oak flooring paired with rustic elements like beams, casing, etc. Additionally, high-contrast woods like shou sugi ban inspired woods are becoming popular.

  6. Do you have any tips for designing with reclaimed wood flooring and paneling?

Some people can be afraid of the heaviness or darkness of reclaimed wood, but when pairing it with light elements like walls or flooring, it can be a beautiful balance. Reclaimed doesn’t necessarily mean traditional rustic either; it can be used in other styles like mid-century modern or combined with styles to create a unique look.

  7. Where can people go to find out more about your design services at KTI?

  8. Is there anything else you'd like to include about your experience working with Anthology Woods?

The Anthology team met every need and was incredible to work with. Our vision became a reality effortlessly with their guidance and materials.
